Are there taxis at Massena Airport?
Massena International Airport is in Massena, NY and is currently serviced by Boutique Airlines with 3 flights per day to and from Boston Logan Airport. There are currently three taxi services that regularly service the Massena International Airport. Taxi Zero, out of Potsdam, NY, has hours from 6am to 10pm, 7 days per week. Usually, it is good to call ahead to make reservations with Taxi Zero so that there is time to get from Potsdam to Massena to meet the incoming flight. Taxi Zero currently operates only one vehicle with one driver, the owner, John Meyers. Taxi Zero began service in 2014 and is highly rated on Google Reviews and Yelp. Massena Transport is another taxi service that currently operates several taxi vehicles, although some of their time is dedicated to Medicaid taxi service. Although their Yelp page says that Massena Transport is open 24 hours, some have reported that they close at 6pm or 7pm, which makes them unavailable for the 8pm flight into Massena International Airport from Boston. A relatively new service in Massena is North Country Taxi. They started service in September, 2024. According to their Facebook page, North Country Taxi is open from 6am to midnight on Sunday through Wednesday, and 6am to 3am on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
They say to call at least 2 hours in advance to have a time pickup. There are reports that sometimes Uber takes reservations for pickup at Massena International Airport days in advance, only to find that no one in the area has logged into the Uber app on the day of the pickup. Uber drivers are available on a sporadic basis throughout the week. It is unknown whether or not any drivers use the Lyft app in the Massena area. The population of Massena, NY has decreased from around 12,000 in 1990, to under 10,000 in 2024. This is due to the loss of a major General Motors plant in Massena which closed the plant in 2007 after years of declining manufacturing and moving workers to other locations. With the decrease in population, there was an increase in crime and drug related issues. Massena borders not only Canada, but also the Mohawk Indian Reservation. The property crime rate in Massena, NY, has significantly increased, rising by approximately 62% from 2022 to 2023, according to data reported to the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services by the Massena Village Police Department. While violent crime decreased by about 19% during the same period, the substantial jump in property crime indicates an overall rise in criminal activity.
