Is Uber available in Potsdam, NY?  Yes and No.Uber is certainly an option in Potsdam, NY, if there were drivers available as Uber drivers. 

Perhaps, the real question is,  “Why are there no Uber drivers in Potsdam, NY?”

The answer, in my opinion, is that the Uber business model does not compensate the drivers enough for anyone to be interested in doing it.  For example, the minimum charge during off-peak times in Potsdam, NY is currently $7.34.  The customer gets charged that amount on their credit card.  Uber pays the driver, according to their fee structure, a minimum amount of $1.10 plus a few cents for driving time.   That means, for the approximate 15 minutes that the driver is actually, actively working as an Uber driver, he or she will make about $1.50 for the ride which the customer paid Uber $7.34 for.  That’s (wait for it), $6.00 per hour, if the Uber driver is very busy.  And that, is against the minimum wage law in New York State, in my opinion.
